Endangered Species

Today I will be talking to you about a variety of different species that are almost endangered , there are many species in Canada here are just a few  Polar Bear , Grizzly Bear, Sea Otter , Peary Caribou , and many more. Endangered species come from many different categories such as mammals , amphibians , reptiles ,  birds, fish , and plants.

Now I am going to talk about a few of the species mentioned earlier the main two that I will be talking about are the Polar Bear , and the  Sea Otter. Foe each of these species I will be giving you some basic information on each one this includes , habitat , why they are becoming extinct , what they eat , how many are left , and whether or not people  are doing anything to save that species.

My personal thoughts on this topic is that I feel like people should be at least aware of the fact that we are losing so much wildlife and at least do something about it. I personally don't understand how some people can just sit there and watch it happen , to me when this happens I feel like people don't care about the matter .I feel so sorry for these animals because if there isn't someone doing something right now then what chance will they have in the future. It upsets me more than anything to see animals go through this ,to me it seems kind of cruel really in away.

Polar Bears

The polar bears natural habitat is located in the different  regions around the Arctic , you can find polar bears in Alaska , Canada , Russia , Greenland and Norway. Their natural habitat is cold , and has ice regions around it. Polar bears mostly hunt ringed seals , they only hunt them if there is an opening in the ice. There are currently only 20,000 - 25,000 polar bears left in Canada. There is a group called WWF - Polar Bear Conservation , has made a ban of hunting polar bears in their habitat and wants each nation to protect their habitat. Polar Bears are becoming extincted because of climate chage it is causing the ice to melt and is making it harder for them to live and is ruining there chances of survival.

Sea Otter

Sea Otters can be found in the northern/ eastern regions of the North Pacific Ocean, normally live in at least coastal waters that are between 15m- 23 m deep. Its main source of food includes sea urchins , various molluscs , crustacens , and some species of fish. Before the sea otter was hunted for its fur its population ranged from 150,000 - 300,000, but today it is estimated that there are only at least 1,000 - 2,000 species left.  The main reason why sea otters are becoming endangered is because of oil spills , otters rely on their fur to  keep them warm so once their fur is covered in oil things begin to shut down .

  1. Good subject, we need to put more effort into protecting the habitat of wildlife to help them survive the changes in climate.
